Teenage mom Jenelle Evans files restraining order against mom Barbara for ’emotional distress’ after son Jace disappears

TEEN Mom star Jenelle Evans has filed a restraining order against her mother, Barbara Evans.

The MTV grad accused her mother – who previously had custody of her eldest son Jace – of causing her “emotional distress”.

Jenelle, 31, formally filed for a protective order against her mother on September 1 The Summary of Ashley’s Reality.

However, the protective order was officially served on Barbara on Tuesday.

Court documents obtained by the outlet suggest the mother-of-three initially attempted to seek a domestic violence protection order against her mother.

She requested that the injunction be granted ex parte, which would require the court to take emergency action and grant it immediately.

The court would also have to give Jenelle a court date within 10 days.

Had the request been granted, the order would remain in effect for one year.

However, the judge refused, prompting Jenelle to file for a civil restraining order.

Barbara has to appear in court again next week. Then Jenelle will lay the “burden of proof” to show her mother’s actions did in fact cause the “emotional distress” she claims.

THE DETAILS

In her filing, the Teen Mom 2 graduate explained that her mother’s comments were directed at Barbara TMZ in August about her and her eldest son Jace causing her and her other children “emotional heartache”.

Jace, 14, went missing twice in two weeks in August.

Jenelle received custody of the teenager in March but has lived with his grandmother for most of his life.

In her interview with TMZ, Barbara accused her daughter of stopping her son’s ADHD medication, which she says he had been taking for seven years.

She also claimed that Jace stopped seeing his behavioral specialist.

Jenelle denied those claims, telling the outlet, “Barbara hasn’t had any contact with Jace since Monday. I cut off all contact with her three weeks ago.”

“Barbara has no idea what’s going on in my house. Jace had a therapist appointment today at 10:30am on Zoom. She didn’t even try to speak to Jace directly.”

JENELLE’S NIGHTMARE

Within months of being returned to her care, Jenelle’s son Jace went missing twice.

He disappeared from the school on August 15, prompting police to search for his whereabouts.

Brunswick County Sheriff’s Department officials issued an alert regarding a runaway youth, The US Sun confirmed at the time.

Jenelle responded to the news in a statement, saying, “As a young mother, children can act up and rebel, as I’m sure most of us all did as children.”

“Jace got in trouble at school, we decided to take his phone away and then he decided to run away.”

The 16 & Pregnant alum continued, “Jace is a good kid and we’re not dealing with anything that most families don’t have to deal with when it comes to raising children. “This is a teenager who is so angry that we decided to take his phone away from him.”

In the lead up to Jace’s disappearance, Jenelle and her husband had been arguing online.

Police confirmed in a Facebook post that Jace was found hours after he was reported missing and was “safe.”

Additionally, August Keen – Jenelle’s manager – confirmed to The US Sun that Jace was safely located.

“Jace has been found and is safe at home with Jenelle and his family. Thank you to the Brunswick Co. Sheriff’s Department and everyone else for their concerns,” he said in a statement.

Jace went missing again on August 28 after leaving his home to roam the sprawling property and not returning.

Jenelle’s manager told it TMZ At the time, Jenelle was worried after not hearing from Jace for several hours.

The police got involved and were able to quickly locate the boy.

He was found at a gas station about 10 minutes from home.
