Teen Mom’s Gary Shirley opens up about his carpal tunnel surgery as ex Amber Portwood shows his support and thanks his wife

TEEN Mom star Gary Shirley underwent scheduled surgery on Friday and ex Amber Portwood showed some love to his wife Kristina.

Amber and gary appeared on 16 & Pregnant Together after welcoming daughter Leah together.

On Friday, Kristina a set of photos from the hospital as well as some pictures after the procedure.

She revealed the teen mom’s father underwent “bilateral endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery.”

The surgery was planned and went well, she says in her post.

“Today @itsgarytime had his bilateral endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery. Luckily, his surgery went as planned. It was entertainment for the doctors, nurses and staff to say the least.

“He’s back home now and resting. I feel like I have to take care of a little boy and nurse him back to health,” she shared in the caption.

Amber commented on the post and showed support for Kristina.

Gary’s ex commented: “You @Kristina_shirley3 thanks for my silly pic earlier lol but he has an amazing nurse to look after him and a few little helpers too.”

Gary and Amber have had a difficult relationship, although things have gotten better lately.

During a recent episode of Teen Mom Family Reunion, Gary sat down with Amber to commend her for trying to mend her broken relationship with daughter Leah.

gary revealed he had surgery just before the intervention.

He shared the news with fans in a video with daughter Emilee on Thursday.

Gary revealed he has carpal tunnel syndrome – a common condition that causes pain, numbness and tingling in his hands and arms.

The condition occurs when one of the main nerves in the hand — the median nerve — is pinched or compressed as it passes through the wrist.

The father-of-two said he had bilateral carpal tunnel surgery, which means both wrists will be operated on under general anaesthetic.

“I hope that they can heal at the same time and that I can use my hands faster,” he said MTV Star told his fans.

“Sometimes I don’t have much strength in my hands and sometimes I wake up and they’re numb.”

Gary said Kristina would drive him to the hospital and a family member would take care of Emilee while they are in the hospital.

He then turned to his little daughter and joked, “I don’t think Emilee is that happy because I can’t cook for a while and she has to eat mommy’s food. Are you ready for this?”

Emilee laughed at the tear and walked away from the camera.

Gary shared the video on Instagram on Thursday with the caption: “Big things are happening, definitely not excited.

“I absolutely hate going under anesthesia! One of my greatest fears.”

Amber wrote: “Praying for you buddy! Don’t worry, you’re strong, you’ve got it!”

gary praised Kristina a week before the operation and called her a “beautiful soul”.

Sharing a selfie of them from a date night, he said: “You are one of the most beautiful souls I know.

“I don’t know how I would do this without you. Thanks for everything sweety!”

NO MORE FEUD

Gary also recently made amends with Amber after months of falling out with his reality star ex.

The duo reunited for a lunch with her daughter Leah at Gary’s house.

She snapped a picture with Gary, who was smiling while holding a turkey club sandwich.

Amber wrote: “It really is the simple things! Blended families can be complicated and sometimes stressful.

“But it’s simple days and kind gestures that make co-parenting amazing.”

She also thanked Gary and Kirstina “for the sandwich.”
