Teen Mom’s Cory Wharton gives an update on daughter Maya’s recovery and reveals she’s still on oxygen after heart surgery

TEEN Mom star Cory Wharton has shared an exciting update on his daughter Maya’s recovery from heart surgery.

The MTV star has been documenting his little girl’s journey for several months.

On Friday, Cory, 31, took to social media to share a sweet video of his daughter Maya.

In the black and white clip, the Teen Mom star tickled his daughter’s stomach and made her giggle.

She smiled widely, showing some of her freshly cut teeth.

Maya still had an oxygen tube stuck in her nose with two heart-shaped pieces of medical grade glue.

The MTV dad shared in his caption, “Somebody’s growing teeth.

“Maya is doing great. She’s still on oxygen but her numbers are increasing so it shouldn’t be too long.”

This is hardly the first update Cory has released about Maya recently.

He recently opened up about the ups and downs of her recovery.

DIFFICULT WAY

Earlier this month, Cory shared some serious news about Maya with fans.

He took to his Instagram feed on Jan. 18 to reveal that he had “some GOOD news” for fans.

The father-of-three posted a photo of himself and Maya, writing: “I have GOOD news to tell you all that WE have finally been released from the hospital.

“I’m so thankful that these last two weeks have been very up and down and have felt like a nightmare at times. But I always try to stay positive and be at the children’s hospital for two weeks and see some families that have been up there for months or years and some might not leave the hospital.”

He continued: “I am very grateful that we were released today. Maya had a successful Glenn operation! But while recovering, Maya had other plans. Maya’s oxygen levels were lower than doctors wanted.

“Six days after her Glenn, she ended up back in the operating room for a cath lab exam to hopefully fix what they thought was the problem.”

The Teen Mom’s dad continued, “It turned out there was nothing to fix, which was great, but it didn’t fully explain the oxygen levels being so low. Trying to get her off the ventilator the second time around was a lot harder.

“After this rollercoaster of emotions, I’m just happy and grateful to be home. Thank you again to everyone who has supported and prayed for us during this time. I’m sorry if I didn’t get back to you on messages, I was a bit stressed.”

Cory concluded his message with: “I love you all. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, and it did.”

The post was accompanied by several snaps of the father-daughter duo.

The first picture showed them enjoying some time outside, with Maya smiling while wearing a polka dot outfit and a pink headband.

Cory looked lovingly at his daughter in the picture.

Another snap snowed her to the hospital.

Both the reality star and her baby daughter looked straight at the camera with serious faces.

Maya had an oxygen tube up her nose and a pacifier in her mouth.

A third picture showed Cory pulling a silly face while resting his head on his daughter.

Maya seemed to have puffed out her cheeks slightly.

Another snap showed the little girl alone in a hospital bed.

She smiled for the camera and snuggled up in a fluffy blanket to which various hoses were attached.

Cory also shared a photo of her after one of her procedures.

She was seen sleeping with tubes coming out of her nose and arms and other devices attached to her head.

In another photo, Maya cuddled with a stuffed animal as she lay in bed.

A similar snap showed her smiling as she hugged a smaller, fluffy friend to her chest.

Cory rocked his smiling baby girl in another photo in the stack.

She wore a purple outfit and a yellow bib.

The kid seemed to be in a good mood.

The MTV star gave fans a glimpse of Maya’s cut in one of his photos, posing with his tongue out while snuggling up to his smiling baby.

In a recent photo, Cory pinched her cheeks as she lay in her bed recovering.

TAYLOR’S PAIN

Cory’s longtime friend Taylor Selfridge also recently shared an update on Maya.

She told fans online that she was “traumatized” by the whole experience.

The ex-MTV star shared a clip that showed Maya lying in bed with a diaper on while she kicked her legs and played with a light-up toy that had multiple tubes attached to her face and body.

Taylor captioned the short clip: “Still here. Maya had other plans for her recovery, but she is fine now.

“Cory and I are traumatized, but it’s okay. I’ll keep you updated on everything when we get out of here,” she added.

The second post was a close-up of Maya’s face with her mouth slightly parted, as Taylor confirmed, “Maya got her first tooth during this stay,” followed by a laughing emoji.

A third post was another cute clip of Maya in her hospital bed surrounded by stuffed animals and grinning at her famous mom.

The song ME! by Taylor Swift played over the top and it was captioned, “I told her if she just stopped sounding her alarms, we could go home.”

Fans were concerned about Taylor and Cory the week before, noting that they went radio silent on social media after revealing Maya would be attending the surgery.
