Teen mom Amber Portwood passes drug tests and gains more visiting time with son James, 4, after losing custody to ex
TEEN mom Amber Portwood has gained more visiting time with her son James after losing custody to her ex Andrew Glennon.
A source exclusively told The US Sun that Amber has “passed all of her court-ordered drug tests” and is on track to forge a stronger relationship with the 4-year-old.

The insider also said January is the final month that both Amber and Andrew will have to undergo drug tests related to their custody case for James.
“The court had set a specific time frame for the tests before allowing them to co-parent James without additional supervision.”
Aside from being able to move forward with fewer procedures, Amber has also reached the full five days a month to visit her son after once having only three.
Amber alternately sees James in California, where Andrew lives, and in her home state of Indiana.
In the long gaps between visits, the source added that Amber regularly Facetimes with her son.
MOVE MALIBU
As sources previously revealed to The US Sun, Amber’s ex Andrew moved to Malibu with their son James in August, shortly after an Indiana judge granted him full custody and permission to take the toddler to his own home state.
A source revealed that James has settled into his new life in California and that plans are in the works to enroll in Pre-K in the spring and possibly start extracurricular sports activities as well.
“Amber made a real effort to make sure she was in James’ life despite the distance. It’s tough for her but she makes it work,” the source added.
As The US Sun previously revealed, Amber has been weighing her possible options to leave the Teen Mom franchise after 14 years on the show.
A source claimed, “Amber has been telling people she’s absolutely out on the show, that she’s already quit and quit MTV.”
The source added that she’s not yet sure of her exact next move but is considering venturing into real estate and flipping houses.
However, a second source told The US Sun that Amber hasn’t officially left the show yet and is still weighing her options.

Andrew gained sole custody of James in July and has since moved with him to his mother’s $5 million estate in Malibu — more than 2,000 miles from Amber’s Indiana home.
Amber opened up about how she’s feeling since losing custody in part two of the reunion special Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, which aired in December 2022.
After a brief recap of season one, Dr. Drew Amber: “So what are you thinking while you’re watching this?”
The TV star seemed uninterested in the question as she replied: “Uhh just ready not to be here.”
Confused, the host repeated, “Are you ready not to be here? What do you mean?”
Amber declined to get involved, replying, “I don’t want to deal with it now.”
The host inquired further and asked, “Don’t you want to delve into the James thing?”
Amber bluntly replied, “All of that. All of that. Everything was terrible.”
LONG REALITY CAREER
Amber has appeared on MTV since welcoming her now 14-year-old daughter Leah with her ex-fiancé Gary Shirley on an episode of 16 and Pregnant in 2009.
Her struggles with mental health and addiction were covered extensively on the show, as was her time in prison.
More than 10 years ago, the star spent 17 months behind bars for drug offenses.
After her release in 2013, she struggled to stay sober, reconnect with her daughter, and return to college.
She openly struggled with trolls slamming her parenting choices and mental health struggles caught on camera.
She said in 2021, “Opinions from people who are just plain negative and ignorant doesn’t matter because the only opinion that really matters is yours.”
