COMEDIAN Teddy Ray reportedly died from an apparent drowning incident after a maintenance worker found the Comedy Central star unresponsive in a pool.

Ray, born Theadore Brown, was found dead Friday morning at his private home in Rancho Mirage, California.

According to TMZ, a building maintenance worker called the police after finding Ray swimming in the community pool.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office told the outlet there was no evidence of third-party fault.

Ray, 32, is best known for appearing on Russell Simmons’ digital comedy stream All Def Digital, was a cast member on MTV’s Wild ‘N Out, and hosted a podcast with Lewis Ray called The Cali Kickback.

The prankster has also appeared on MTV’s Messyness, collaborating with fellow comedic legend Katt Williams and entrepreneur Simmons.

Within a year of beginning his career as a stand-up comedian, he was offered his first TV special on BET.

Comedy Central shared an emotional tweet confirming the news of Ray’s death on Friday: “Teddy Ray was a hilarious and popular performer. He will be greatly missed by the entire comedy community.”

Ray had recently turned 32 and celebrated his birthday on July 30 in his most recent Instagram post.

“Rating up to 32 like…..Lord thank you for one more lap around this hot sun,” the caption read, along with a photo from a popular meme.

Comedians and other celebrities spoke about Teddy on Twitter.

Desus Nice, former co-host of Desus & Mero, tweeted: “[RIP] teddy ray, he was a real”

Musician Jean Deaux said: “[I] I’ve fucking been to every one of his comedy shows in LA since he started. one of the funniest ppl i [sic] seriously know. This is really heartbreaking man. RIP Teddy damn brother.”

Hoorae Media, a media production company founded by actress Issa Rae, also shared a tweet regarding Teddy’s death.

“Rest in power to our longtime creative collaborator and friend Teddy Ray. Grateful for the energy you always put into our projects and sets!”

All Def Digital shared their “deepest condolences and prayers” to his immediate family and friends on social media.

“All Def Family, we are heartbroken and still cannot believe that our brother Teddy Ray has passed away,” the company wrote in a statement.

“We will miss him every day, but we know he will make heaven smile.”
