Teachers in some states are being encouraged so they don’t quit

In one survey conducted in January and February 2021 by Rand Corp — a nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization — reports that one in four American teachers has considered quitting.

From forming the soul of a child to becoming a temporary social worker for disadvantaged students, distance learning has left many teachers with little time for themselves.

Lanee Higgins, a teacher at Baltimore County Public Schools, told Washington Post Distance teaching has broken down the boundaries between work and home.

She eventually had to leave her post to seek therapy.

With teachers like her under extreme stress, schools are having a hard time retaining them. This is why schools are offering an attractive cash incentive.

Here’s a list of what some states are currently offering.

Utah are offering their teachers in virtual settings $300 per student above a class size limit of 30 students.

Detroit Public Schools Community

In Michigan, the city of Detroit is offering $500 per quarter to teachers while also providing blended, face-to-face, face-to-face, and virtual instruction services to students.

In North Carolina, Onslow County School said it will invest approximately $6 million to provide approximately $3,600 in two retention bonus payments.

Randolph County Public Schools

The Randolph County Public Schools System is another school system located in North Carolina, and they are offering each district employee a $5,000 bonus.

How do you qualify for the bonus?

Bonuses are being awarded in different ways.

For example, each teacher at Rowan-Salisbury School is paid $5,000 to attend a leadership institute.

Therefore, you should check with your employer to see how much you are receiving and how the bonus is being divided at your school.
