Sylvester Stallone is stepping onto the TV stage: The action star is in talks to headline the TV series Paramount + mob Kansas City, with Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan executive producer, our sister site Deadline report.
Stallone will play Sal, a legendary New York City mobster who is forced to move to the iconic town. Sal “is faced with the incredible task of re-establishing his Italian mafia family in the modernized, straight-shooting town of Kansas City, Missouri. There, Sal meets surprising and unsuspecting characters who follow him on his unique path to power,” according to the official description.
Sheridan, co-creator and executive producer of the hit Paramount Network Yellowstone, available as an EP, featuring Terence Winter (Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire) act as the presenter. Winter and Stallone will also serve as EPs.
David Glasser, CEO of producer 101 Studios, said in a statement: “Taylor is a prolific creator thanks to the multi-dimensional characters he creates and the complex worlds he creates construct. “Being able to have the legendary, transcendent Sylvester play one of these characters is truly a privilege. And on top of that, we have project producer Terence with us, who is responsible for making some of history’s most compelling, deeply respected TV shows. We are delighted that ViacomCBS has partnered with us to help tell this story. ”
This will mark Stallone’s first major television role after a career on the big screen marked by Rocky and Rambo Franchising. Along with the roles before fame on Kojak and Police Story, Stallone guest-starred in a 2017 episode of This is us.
