Suspect Rashid Ali Bynum has been arrested months after the targeted murder in the horror murder of Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour

An arrest was made in connection with the death of a councilwoman who was found fatally shot in her car on February 1.
Rashid Ali Bynum, 28, was arrested Tuesday in connection with the killing of Eunice Dwumfour republican Newark legislators, New Jersey.
Bynum was arrested at an apartment building near Portsmouth. Virginiaaround 10:45 a.m., Middlesex County prosecutors announced in a news conference.
The suspect and victim knew each other through their connection to the Champions Royal Assembly Church in Newark, investigators said.
Bynum was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree unlawful possession of handguns, and second-degree possession of handguns for illegal purposes.
Dwumfour, 30, was found shot to death while sitting in her white SUV outside her Sayreville home in the early hours of February 1.


Surveillance footage showed the 28-year-old suspect fleeing the scene, Ciccone said Tuesday.
The Middlesex County prosecutor also said a cell phone belonging to Bynum indicated that he was traveling from Virginia to New Jersey at the time of the murder.
“There are no words that can be said to you to make you sane,” Attorney General Matthew Platkin said.
“I didn’t know Eunice. I wish I had. But I know she was a civil servant.”
