AMERICANS in several states can expect direct payments worth up to $1,050 as early as October.
With no sign of a fourth federal stimulus check being sent out in response to record inflation, several states are giving rebates to taxpayers between 2022 and 2023.
Eligible Californians will receive a direct payment between October 2022 and January 2023, according to the California State Franchise Tax Board.
Gov. Gavin Newsom said the state will give residents $9.5 billion back between October 2022 and January 2023 as global inflation causes costs to rise.
“California’s new budget includes $700 in payments for couples who apply together and earn less than $150,000 annually,” Forbes said. “Individual taxpayers within that income cap will get $350.”
“Eligible households will also receive an additional $350 if they have eligible dependents.”
Forbes also said taxpayers with incomes of $75,000 or more will receive a tiered benefit with a maximum payment of $250.
Households with eligible dependents will receive an additional amount of up to $250.
“If you filed electronically and received your 2020 tax refund by direct deposit, you should receive your payment the same way,” the California Franchise Tax Board said.
“Otherwise you will receive your payment on a debit card.”
Gov. Jared Polis signed legislation in May giving residents a $750 tax refund for individual applicants and $1,500 for joint applicants, the Colorado Department of Revenue said.
If yes fileIf you file your Colorado state income tax return by June 30, you’ll receive the Colorado cash back by September 30, according to the Colorado Department of Revenue.
“Advanced claimants who have a deadline of October 17, 2022 will receive the refund by January 31, 2023,” the Colorado Department of Revenue said.
“Make sure you have a current and correct address on file with the Department as checks will be sent to your last known address.”
The Delaware Relief Rebate Program was created by legislation signed into law by Gov. John Carney in April to develop a “relief rebate.”
“That’s a one-time direct payment of $300 per adult Delaware resident,” the Delaware Department of Treasury said on its website.
The one-time payment will go to residents who filed their 2020 Delaware resident income taxes by the due date.
“During the summer, payments will be made to adult residents who have filed timely 2021 tax returns and others age 18 and older identified using other state agency data,” the Delaware Department of Treasury said.
“At this time, residents do not need to take any additional action to receive the $300 check.”
600,000 Delaware taxpayers received the first round of Delaware Relief Rebates in May.
“Additional payments will be made to eligible adult residents throughout the summer,” the Treasury Department said.
Some Florida households with children receive a one-time payment of $450 per child, according to Forbes.
This payment is part of the Hope Florida – A Pathway to Prosperity program administered by the Department of Children and Families and is funded with $35.5 million from Gov. Ron DeSantis’ budget.
“Eligible recipients include foster parents, relatives and non-relatives carers of children, participants in the state’s Guardian Assistance Program and families receiving temporary cash assistance for families in need,” Forbes said.
According to Forbes, those entitled do not have to do anything to receive the payment.
“Delivery is expected to be in the mail on or before July 25, when the state’s back-to-school tax holiday begins,” Forbes said.
Georgia residents who filed their 2020 and 2021 tax returns will receive an additional refund as the state records a revenue surplus.
“The Department expects to issue essentially all refunds for refunds filed through April 18, 2022 by early August,” the Georgia Treasury Department said.
The state said residents would not receive the refund until their 2021 tax returns were processed.
“Generally, you will receive the refund in the form of a paper check mailed to the address you used when you returned in 2021,” the state said.
If you provided your bank details for a refund in 2021, the state said you’ll receive the refund as a direct deposit.
Gov. Brad Little signed a bill into law providing $350 million in tax refunds for Idaho residents.
Eligible are Idahoans who have filed tax returns for 2020 and 2021 or are “full-time residents of Idaho and have filed food credit refund returns.”
“The Tax Commission gives rebates to taxpayers in the order in which they received their 2021 income tax returns, with about 25,000 being issued weekly,” the Idaho State Internal Revenue Service said.
Payments began in March and the tax commission said it expects more than 800,000 rebates totaling up to $350 million by the end of the year.
Relief checks for $850 were mailed to eligible Maine residents starting in June, to the address that residents provide on their tax returns.
“To be eligible, you must be a full-time resident and file a 2021 Maine income tax return by October 31, 2022,” CashMaine.org said.
Couples who apply together will receive a relief check per taxpayer totaling $1,700, according to Forbes.
