SUBBUTEO have released their first-ever women’s soccer kit – based on England’s Lionesses team.
Inspired by the likes of Ellen White and Lucy Bronze, the officially licensed set was created ahead of next month’s home championship.
More products are planned for this year’s 75th anniversary of the game, in which players move mini soccer players with their fingers to hit a plastic ball.
Maker University Games said, “Subbuteo is a nostalgic brand that has brought back childhood memories for many.
“We hope that in this anniversary year, our new products can inspire more of the next generation to inspire friends and family with their skills!”
A women’s team was produced as a competitive prize for the 2018 FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Chelsea but was unavailable to buy.
Subbuteo was invented in 1947 by ex-RAF pilot Peter Adolph.
In 1994, sales began to decline from 150,000 sets per year to 500 in 2003.
Hasbro relaunched the brand in 2012.
And in 2020, supplier Subbuteo World announced that it would be producing University Games teams and a video assistant referee set.
