Letter shows strong support for Pause
The letter, signed by hundreds of organizations, showed very strong public support for the pause to continue.
“Recent polls by the Student Borrower Protection Center and Data for Progress show (sic) that 69 percent of likely voters support your continued pause in student loan payments, including majorities of Democrats, Republicans and Independents,” it said.
“Among respondents with student debt, 65 percent expect they will make ‘major changes in how they save or spend’ when payments resume,” she continued.
Nearly 4 in 10 borrowers are “not at all confident” about their ability to manage a student loan payment, while only 1 in 5 borrowers are “very confident”.”
“These findings underscore the need for your administration to delay the planned resumption of federal student loan payments,” Biden urged in the letter.
