Stranger Things Season 5 is expected to be released in 2024

With the record-breaking fourth season behind them, the Duffer Brothers are preparing to begin writing the fifth and final season of stranger things. During a recent chat with Collider, Matt and Ross Duffer were chatting stranger things Season 5 and when fans can possibly expect the new season.

The Duffers announced they would be taking a well-deserved break for a few weeks in July before opening the Season 5 writers’ room in the first week of August. Earlier this year, the Duffers announced that Season 4 and Season 5 plans were being merged as “one entity.”

Ideally, they would have filmed the seasons back-to-back, but the pandemic has prevented that. The good news is that they have at least a draft of season five and already know what the final 20 minutes of the series finale will entail, according to a new report from Deadline.

Now they’re just busy surviving the landing, so let’s hope they take their time to write the final scripts. Apparently, when they pitched their idea for the final season to Netflix executives, it sparked some serious watersports. We can’t think of anything that makes us cry quite like the ending of Season 4, but if anyone can pull it off, it’s Matt and Ross Duffer.

When does Stranger Things season 5 start?

It’s far too early to have an exact release date, but we do know that the wait time between seasons should be significantly shorter than the wait time between Season 3 and Season 4. Season 5 will take place primarily in one place: Hawkins.

It will also be shorter, as the Duffers are aiming for 10 hours of content rather than the massive length of each Season 4 episode. It sounds like the final season will premiere sometime in 2024, likely this summer since most seasons debuted in the summer.
