Authorities say a COLLEGE student has died after being found outside the bus garage in sub-zero temperatures.

Tyler Lopresti-Castro was found by two city employees near the Silas Lane Bus Station, according to the Oneonta Police Department.

Video taken from the garage shows the 20-year-old emerging from a wooded area behind the garage at around 2:15 a.m.

A search of the surrounding area revealed that Tyler may have gone off the roadway…climbed through snow and crossed a drainage creek before appearing on Oneonta City property, police said.

Police said the SUNY Oneonta student had “suffered longer from being exposed to extremely cold, extremely low temperatures”.

He was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Police believe no foul play was involved but have asked anyone with information to contact them.

“We ask that we treat the deceased and his family with the reverence we ourselves expect during this extremely difficult time and avoid sensationalism or speculation about the nature of the tragedy. this,” the police said in a statement Facebook.

Lopresti-Castro used to be a professional accounting student at SUNY Oneonta. The university released a statement after his death.

“The university was notified Thursday evening of the death of a SUNY Oneonta student. This is a very sad time for SUNY Oneonta,” a university spokesperson said in a statement.

“Our campus community is mourning the loss of one of us and we are focused on supporting our students’ families and friends.”

The school said counseling and grief services are being offered to students, faculty and staff.

Storm Kenan is New York’s First big blizzard of the season.

The nor’easter has so far hit major parts of 10 states. By midday Saturday, more than 18 inches of snow had fallen across parts of the New Jersey coast and east of Long Island.

“It’s high winds, heavy snowfall, blizzard conditions – all elements of a classic roller coaster,” New York Governor Kathy Hochul said Friday.

Hochul has announced that the state of emergency is in effect since 8pm on Friday.

The Long Island Railroad was closed overnight, although the MTA has announced service will be restored on Monday morning before the business week’s commute.
