Stimulus test petitions top three million for the fourth time as calls rise asking Congress to approve payments amid Omicron spike

A petition on Change.org for a fourth stimulus check has garnered three million signatures as calls continue to urge Congress to pass the payments.

The call continued amid the rise of Covid Omicron variant has sent the number of cases nationwide skyrocketing in recent weeks.

Appealtitled “$2000/month for every American #moneyforthepeople #covid19,” has 3,001,617 signatures as of 4 p.m. on January 8, 2022.

Currently, the goal is to reach 4,500,000 signatures.

Appeal urges Congress to approve payments of $2,000 per adult and $1,000 per child as the pandemic continues.

Stephanie Bonin, a restaurateur in Denverto start petitioning in 2020.

The petition’s description reads: “I am calling on Congress to assist families with an immediate $2,000 adult and $1,000 child payment, while continuing to monitor regularly throughout the duration of the crisis.

“Otherwise, laid-off workers, overtimers, freelancers and workers with reduced hours will struggle to pay rent or put food on the table.

“We need immediate checks and periodic payments so we can keep our heads up high. Congress needs to make sure we don’t suffer financial ruin for doing our part to keep the water going. keep the country healthy,” the petition continued.

In an update posted to the top of the petition’s description, Bonin wrote: “Our country is still in deep trouble. Recovery has yet to come for many Americans – the real unemployment rate. Unemployment among low-wage workers is estimated to be more than 20%, and many face huge debts from last year for things like utilities, rent and childcare.

“These are all reasons that the tests need to be directed at those who are still struggling and that Congress needs to learn from the past year.

“It took nine months for Congress to send a second stimulus check and just a little while to spend it. Going forward, Congress needs to automatically run periodic checks if certain stimulus factors are met. .

“There’s no need to wait for our government to send the help we need. Sign up for our movement to get periodic checks for people.”

Stimulation for business?

Earlier this week, it was report that lawmakers are entertaining the possibility of another stimulus check — but specifically to protect businesses.

About $68 billion could be used to help protect the economy as Covid continues to affect businesses across the country.

And reports indicate that both Democrats and Republicans were engaged in early negotiations.

However, it is not yet certain that this aid will reach individuals.
