It’s unfair to classify stoners as boring and unmotivated, scientists say.

Cannabis smokers are just as likely to enjoy spending time with their friends and family, learning new things, and getting chores done.

A study concluded that characters such as Jeff Bridges’ The Dude in the 1998 film The Big Lebowski are not reflected in real life.

Martine Skumlien of Cambridge University said: “We are so used to seeing ‘lazy stoners’ on our screens that we don’t question whether they are an accurate representation.

“Our work implies that this is a lazy cliché.”

The study asked 274 teenage and adult spliff smokers in London to rate aspects of their personality and zest for life.

You also had to press buttons in quick succession to win rewards.

Boffins found no difference in responses or outcomes compared to their peers who didn’t smoke Crazy Baccy.

Prof. Barbara Sahakian said: “Our evidence suggests that cannabis does not appear to have an impact on the motivation of recreational users.”
