Stephen A Smith’s full three-minute tirade on First Take ripping Draymond Green for ‘complete no-show’ against Boston

STEPHEN A SMITH got underway in a three-minute rant on First Take at Draymond Green on Thursday.

The Golden State Warriors forward has come off a “complete no-show” in a major NBA Finals game with three losses against Boston.

Green played 35 minutes but had just two points with four rebounds and three assists in a 116-100 loss.

But Draymond also had two turnovers and six fouls as the Celtics went 2-1 up.

Smith appeared at the SportsCenter on Wednesday night and ripped Green’s performance.

The ESPN host said: “They needed something from Draymond Green offensively and unfortunately it was beyond anemic.

“It was a complete and utter no-show offensive.

“He only tried four shots and ended up only getting two points.

“He had more fouls than points for shouting out loud, it was that bad.

“As a result, the Warriors are stuck in a world of trouble because they don’t want to go down 3-1 to Boston.”

But Smith was even more upset after a night’s sleep when he showed up at First Take on Thursday morning.

He got up and walked over to a screen with a photo of Green and Warriors coach Steve Kerr before turning into a three-minute tirade.

He said, “Let me tell you something. I want to preface my comments by saying that these two guys are going into the Hall of Fame.

“Both of these guys are three-time champions.

“As members of the Warriors, we know what they’ve accomplished over the last six years.

“But that doesn’t mean anything this morning.

“What the hell was this Draymond? We must stop this nonsense immediately.

“This is a motivational speech, this is not a criticism of Draymond Green.

“That’s motivation, my brother. Two points – two damn points. All that talk – two damn points.

“I have no problem with your podcast my brother, I support it.

“Are you ready for someone to look at you and say, ‘Draymond Green, you’re about to cost the Golden State Warriors two titles’.”

“Love listening to you, I hope you keep going, but you know what? That’s not the priority at the moment.

“Two damn points. Against the Boston Celtics.”

Smith continued, That’s two games, Dray. At one game you admitted that you are not yourself.

“In game three last night you said you played like you knew what.

“Are you ready for someone to look at you and say, ‘Draymond Green, you’re about to cost the Golden State Warriors two titles.’

“When you lost in 2016, if you don’t get banned from the game for piling up too many technical fouls, you win that series in five – that’s a title.

“Now if you lose to Boston because you didn’t show up in game one and you didn’t show up in game three, we can’t count on you showing up for more than one game at a time to be a problem.

“Stephen Curry needs you bro, Klay Thompson needs you bro, Jordan Poole needs you bro. It’s time, period. you have to show up

“The same things you did in game two, looking everyone in the face, being disruptive, pressing picks, being physical, playing with violence, letting the Boston Celtics know they have to deal with you .”

Stephen A added: “You can’t lose 3-1 to Boston, you can’t win to Boston three times in a row.

“That’s it Draymond, that’s it. No longer. You’re a Hall of Famer and a three-time champion, but you gotta play.

“Because Al Horford looks better than you right now. He shoots the ball better, he bounces the ball better, he defends better. You have to chase it.”
