‘Star Wars: Ahsoka’ casts Ray Stevenson as the villainous Admiral

Black Sail and Vikings alum Ray Stevenson has joined Disney + ‘s Ahsoka in a series of supposedly villainous films.

Announced in December 2020, Ahsoka stars Rosario Dawson as Jedi Knight warrior Ahsoka Tano. Fan-favorite anime character Clone War made her live-action debut in Season 2 of Mandalorian and also appeared in an episode of Books by Boba Fett.

The new series will presumably follow Anakin Skywalker’s former apprentice as she continues her hunt for Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn, partnering with Sabine Wren in the effort.

Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Society) was previously cast as Sabine Wren, while Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Fargo) and Ivanna Sakhno (High Definition) will fill in the undisclosed roles.

As first reported by our sister site The Hollywood ReporterStevenson will play a villainous admiral, but Not Thrawn. Dutch actor Lars Mikkelsen (Borgen, House of Cards) voiced Thrawn in Star Wars: Rebels.

Notably, British-Irish Stevenson previously voiced the Mandalorian Gar Saxon commando in Star Wars: Clone Wars. Meanwhile, his live-action TV credits include Vikings, Break the reef, Black Sail, Dexter and Roman.

Produced on Ahsoka is scheduled to begin in late April, although no release date has been set yet. The film’s cast will also feature Hayden Christensen, reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker from Star Wars prequel Attack of the clones and Revenge of the Sith. (Are from Ahsoka take place five years later Return of the Jediwitnessed the death of Darth Vader, it was assumed that Anakin would appear in the flashback.)
