Today, Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games launched Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2951, their annual event showcasing their ships and vehicles.

The event will run until December 1, rotating manufacturers every day until the final three, which will showcase the best and brightest.

It also means that the traditional free-to-fly event has also begun, allowing players to try out the game for free for the duration of the event. You need to create a free account, but you don’t need to commit any money to the game.

Six ships will be revealed throughout the show, even though we already know three, the Aegis Redeemer, Ares Ion and Ares Inferno. According to the press release, one reveal from Argo will arrive on November 25th and one from MISC will be introduced on November 27th.

As usual, the different ship brands will be able to fly in the daily rotation and we’ll have funny videos with Jax McCleary (whom Jeremy Clarkson fans might find familiar) and the same assistant Jimmy His Stig.

  • Best in show: Starting November 28, attendees can look forward to the reveal of exclusive ship skins and in-game leather jackets awarded to the four finalists. Both cannon ship variants excel at dealing damage to large and capital ships.

Award-winning journalist and extremely popular Whitley’s Guide presenter brings viewers the latest information directly from the New Babbage Expo Hall with hot scenes of the latest ship models on display, starting from day one.

In other Star Citizen news, total amount of crowdfunding just passed $399 million and is currently at $399,024,751.

The number of registered accounts is currently over 3.3 million, and at the time of this writing is 3,343,482.

As always, you should keep in mind that not all of them are paying players. This number includes free accounts created for various reasons, including Free Fly events like what happens tomorrow.
