St James Park: ‘Suspicious item’ found at popular London tourist hotspot as police set up security cordons

Cops have cordoned off the popular tourist spot St James Park after a “suspicious item” was discovered.

Police were called to the scene of the accident on Horseguard Road, London, shortly after 9.20am today.

The area has been cordoned off to the public while specialists remain on site and examine the item.

A Westminster Police spokesman said: “Police were called at 9.21am to reports of a potentially suspicious item found in St James Park, Horseguard Road.”

“Security cordons and cordons have been put in place while specialist officers investigate the item.

“The officers remain on site. We thank the public for their patience.”

The Horse Guards Parade in St. James Park is one of the many historic locations in London associated with the royal family.

It was the venue for the 2023 Trooping the Color ceremony and also the site of the changing of the King’s bodyguard.
