Splatoon fan spends almost £3000 to make a bizarre complaint to Nintendo – and gets shut down

A SPLATOON fan spent almost £3,000 ($3,500) on Nintendo stock to file a direct complaint.

By purchasing at least 100 shares of the company, the fan was able to attend a shareholders’ meeting and make their voices heard.

One of the criticisms is that girls are shown more often than boys.

The man claims that he previously sent letters to Nintendo discussing his issue with Splatoon 3, but they all went unanswered.

So he took the desperate measure of buying these stocks to ensure his grievances were addressed.

He claims he spent over £2,000 ($2,500) buying Nintendo Switch consoles using a credit card before reselling them to a Japanese second-hand shop at a loss.

Although he lost almost half of the money he had deposited, he was now able to use the money to buy shares.

At the meeting, he released a statement about what he felt was unfair treatment of boy characters compared to girl characters in Splatoon 3.

As translated by GLHF, he began by saying, “Our company has obviously given the guys at Splatoon the cold shoulder and I’d like to see an improvement.”

What followed was a long list of complaints about girl characters getting better emotes, user icons, and hairstyles compared to boys.

He states that the problem started with the third entry because “in Splatoon 3 there is a lot more customization and there is a clear preference for girl characters over boys.”

According to reports, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa tried to interrupt the speech, but the man continued talking anyway.

He also complained about Nintendo’s marketing of the game, saying, “From Fall Direct 2021 and all of the next year’s trailers, it always featured the girl character.”

“There were people like me who looked forward to playing as a boy, every day [without seeing the boy character] We were terrified that we wouldn’t make it.”

Towards the end of his speech, he said, “It makes me extremely sad when people say, ‘If you enjoyed gaming as a kid, you won’t enjoy playing Splatoon either.'”

After he was done, Furukawa reportedly thanked him for enjoying the game and proceeded to meet.
