Chris Hemsworth stars in the upcoming psychological thriller as the brilliant and eccentric tech visionary behind the creation of a new breed of prison that commutes sentences for a mind-altering drug trial spider head. The film is genre-bending and darkly funny and will be coming to Netflix very soon.

In addition to Hemsworth, fans will also recognize familiar faces such as Miles Teller and Jurnee Smollett, who play two of the inmates. spider head released this June and Netflix finally released the official trailer, keyframes, and additional photos for the film. Below we show everything you need to know about the film.

The upcoming Chris Hemsworth movie will be directed by Joseph Kosinski from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Chris Hemsworth produces alongside Wernick, Reese, Eric Newman, Agnes Chu, Geneva Wasser, Tommy Harper and Jeremy Steckler.

Spiderhead release date

spider head will be released on Friday 17 June 2022. It seems kind of fitting that both Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Pataky are releasing new movies on Netflix in June. Hemsworth also serves as executive producer on Pataky’s film interceptorwhich will be released on June 3rd.

Content will launch on Netflix on the day of release at 12:00 p.m. PT/3:00 p.m. ET.

Spiderhead Summary

The film will be named after George Saunders’ short story The New Yorker Escape from Spider Head. Escape from Spider Head is one of the longer stories in the volume. The whole book is really worth reading and I can only recommend it.

In a state-of-the-art correctional facility run by brilliant visionary Steve Abnesti (Chris Hemsworth), inmates wear a surgically attached device that administers doses of mind-altering drugs in exchange for commuted sentences. There are no bars, cells, or orange overalls. In Spiderhead, imprisoned volunteers are free to be themselves. Until they aren’t. Sometimes they are a better version. Need to lighten up? There’s a drug for that. Can’t find the words? There is a drug for that too. But when two subjects, Jeff (Miles Teller) and Lizzy (Jurnee Smollett), form a bond, their path to redemption takes a trickier turn as Abnesti’s experiments begin to push the boundaries of free will altogether.
