A SPECTATOR has been left covered in blood after being hit by a ball at the Dunhill Championship.

Andrew Summerskill was watching the action at St Andrews on the second day when a shot from Tommy Fleetwood hit him in the head.

Fellow spectators could be seen comforting Summerskill next to the green after the incident.

He held a white cloth to stem the bleeding after taking Fleetwood’s ball to his head.

Fleetwood himself was also filmed apologizing to Summerskill when he realized what had happened.

The 32-year-old is back in action after starring for Team Europe in Marco Simone’s Ryder Cup triumph last weekend.

In his four games in Rome, the Englishman picked up four points in Europe, winning both four-a-side games with his partner Rory McIlroy.

Fleetwood was then successful in his individual duel with Rickie Fowler on Sunday.

The American conceded a putt from his opponent, giving Europe the Ryder Cup.

However, it was a less successful weekend for Fleetwood in the Dunhill Championship.

After shooting three under par on the first day, he is tied for 66th on the leaderboard with one over on Friday.

Spaniard Nacho Elvira is currently in the lead through 13 holes on the second day after finishing six-under on Thursday.
