Southgate’s Channel 4 interview suddenly turns awkward after England’s Euro 2024 qualifier draw against North Macedonia

CHANNEL 4’s interview with Gareth Southgate turned awkward when Jules Breach threw a dig at Joe Cole after England’s 1-1 draw with North Macedonia.

The Three Lions recovered from a goal down to pick up a point away from home in a disappointing performance on Monday night.

Southgate emphasized after the game that he had “learned a lot” from the games against Malta and North Macedonia.

But it was a slightly cringe-worthy moment during his Channel 4 interview that caused a stir on social media.

After an answer from the England coach, presenter Breach threw the pundit at Cole, who seemed unwilling to ask a question.

There was a moment of silence before the ex-Chelsea player asked Cole: “So you haven’t asked what you’re doing for Christmas?”

This upset Breach and also earned a laugh from Southgate, who replied: “What are you doing?”

Cole then added, “No, she threw me there and I had no question.”

“So I thought I’d just ask you that.”

During their live coverage, English fans could be heard chanting “Channel 4 is f**king s**t.”

Southgate’s side qualified for Euro 2024 with six wins and two draws from eight games.

The last two games before the final tournament will take place in March in friendly matches against Brazil and Belgium.

The draw against North Macedonia also secured them their place in Pot 1 for next month’s European Championship draw.
