Sony’s answer to Xbox Game Pass is almost here

SONY’s Xbox Game Pass version could launch as soon as February.

A member on the game forum ResetEra discovered a big clue about Blog PS that could lead to a launch in February.

PS blog's wording for February's free games doesn't follow the usual format

Every month, PlayStation Plus members get access to a handful of free titles as part of their subscription.

The wording in these posts, shown on the thumbnails above, as well as website posts, typically reads:

“For PlayStation Plus members”.

The February blog post made a small change that created some big ripples, deviating from the standard text to read:

“Available this month at no extra charge.”

Sony is about to roll out its Xbox Game Pass rival, codenamed Project Spartacus, which does away with PS Plus for this new subscription program.

The sudden change in text might not seem like a big deal, but it’s a deliberate inference.

This theory gains more weight when combined with other rumors that indicate a “fairly large” event is imminent.

Call of Duty and Battlefield leaker, Tom Henderson tweeted that Sony has set up a State of Play referral program for February.

“The current rumor is that Sony’s next event could be in February based on this month’s media events and previous PlayStation dates,” he said.

“It will probably be the State of Play, but it has the potential to be a pretty big IMO.”

Sony’s version of Xbox Game Pass is supposed to be a level of service, rather than the simple platform options Microsoft offers.

Of course, this is just speculation, but it looks like Sony is gearing up for something.
