Son, 23, ‘cuts his parents off with saw & scissors before burning his head in a fireplace’ and reports them missing

A SON is said to have dismembered his parents with a saw before burning their heads in a fireplace and reporting them missing.
Chandler Halderson, 23, allegedly shot his father, Bart, 50, in the back, before killing his mother Krista, 53, in July 2021.
Dane Assistant District Attorney William Brown alleges that Halderson killed his parents after his father discovered that he had lied about attending Madison College.
According to Brown, Halderson lied to his parents that he was working at an insurance company and was applying for a job in Florida at SpaceX.
He testified that he had fabricated dozens of emails between himself and the university.
The lawyer said that Bart had known his son had not attended classes at the college for more than a semester, Law and Crime report.
Bart and his son are scheduled to meet with school officials when the 23-year-old allegedly shot and killed his father on July 1.
It is alleged that Halderson used a saw and scissors to cut up his parents’ bodies before dumping some of their remains into the woods and burning others.
Brown claimed that the ashes from the fireplace in the couple’s home contained human remains, including fragments of skulls, facial bones and knees.
The 23-year-old reported his father and mother missing on July 7, claiming that they had not returned from a weekend trip to return to their cabin.
Halderson was arrested the next day – hours after his father’s body was found by police.
Their son, Mitchell, told the court he had received a text message from Halderson, saying he was “worried” for his parents, according to WMTV.
But, attorney Catherine Dorl said: “Chandler Halderson did not kill his parents.”
She said he was a “normal kid” who enjoyed playing video games and spending time with his girlfriend.
“The evidence will show you that there is a gap of evidence when it comes to that timeframe,” Dorl told the court.
“Your job is to listen to this evidence as a juror, to hear it from the point of view of a juror, not from the point of view of someone who corroborated the story.”
Investigators ruled that Bart’s cause of death was “homicidal violence including gun trauma”.
‘A NORMAL KID’
Investigators found part of Krista’s body along Wisconsin River near Sauk City.
Halderson was initially charged with lying to police. He allegedly said his parents would attend a parade in White Lake but no such parade exists.
Police checked Halderson’s Google search history from June 30 to July 8.
They found several searches for terms like “Body found in Wisconsin”, “Woman’s body found in Wisconsin” and “Body found in Wisconsin”. Investigators have yet to find his parents.
Deputy Secretary John Nelson testified in court that Halderson was “slow to answer” some questions while being questioned by police.
He said: “He (Halderson) seemed lethargic and tired as what he describes as having not seen his parents in a week.”
Halderon’s charges were elevated to murder and mutilation. He pleaded not guilty to all charges in September.
Since his arrest, Halderson has been in the Dane County Jail for $1 million.
The trial is expected to last three to four weeks, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
