YOU may be eligible for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) if you meet the standards for each program and receive up to $861 monthly.
This year, the average SSI payout is $621 per month, up $34 from 2021. This comes to $7,452 per year.
In 2022, an individual’s monthly SSI benefit cap is $841, or around $10,092 per year.
Your age determines the SSDI payment amount at the onset of the disability, your employment history (including the average salary you previously earned), and the duration of your eligibility.
However, the SSA gave us a hypothetical monthly payment scenario where if you’re eligible for both programs, you can get a total of $861 per month from them.
