The ex-Arsenal defender said: “I have no idea how to dance so I make myself very vulnerable.

“It feels like the first day of school, but you can do anything if you try.

“My former teammates think I’m crazy for doing Strictly, but they admire me for having the courage to try.”

When asked if he’s danced in nightclubs, he replies, “Yeah baby, I’ve got it.”

After a pause, he adds, “When I was rehearsing with my partner recently, I made a move and they said, ‘Whatever that was, I don’t want to see it again.'”

Tony, who quit alcohol and drugs 26 years ago, adds: “I’m proving that once you’re free of addiction, you can get out there and do things like Strictly.”
