Six-time MMA and boxing stars in WWE after Daniel Cormier was announced for Extreme Rules

WWE will add another fighting star to its ranks.

UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier made his WWE debut on the October 3 edition of Monday Night Raw, where he announced his intention to “set the law” at Extreme Rules on Saturday.

cormier explained: “I live in a cage. I love it.

“But one thing I know, there must be a strict third man. It can’t be an old referee.

“So you know who they called? They called your boy DC to come down and set the law to make sure only one of you walks out of the battle ditch victorious and we’re putting a stop to that. That’s exactly what I intend to do.”

And Cormier is probably not the only UFC star looking to join WWE, as Nate Diaz has recently flirted with a move and Conor McGregor previously implied in a future venture with the organization.

But looking back, there have been some truly notable WWE performances by martial arts stars, and here are some of the best:

Tyson Fury

The two-time WBC heavyweight champion made his WWE debut back in 2019.

After he and Brian Strowman got together during SmackDown earlier this year, the two fought at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia in October.

Fury came out victorious, and in November, Fury and Strowman teamed against the B-Team on SmackDown.

Fury returned to the WWE Universe this September when he defeated Theory at the WWE Clash at the Castle, and now looks like he might make an appearance at the Royal Rumble in January.

Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Few boxers can match Mayweather’s career accomplishments: Fifteen belts, a 50-0 record and breaking Big Show’s nose.

But that’s exactly what happened when Mayweather showed up in 2008’s WrestleMania 24 when he knocked out the seven-foot, 411-pound giant

This came after Mayweather introduced himself to the WWE World and Big Show during WWE No Way Out 2008.

Mayweather defeated Big Show at WrestleMania 24 with a little help from some brass knuckles.

He later hosted an episode of Monday Night Raw in 2009.

Ronda Rousey

UFC Hall of Famer Rousey’s move to WWE proved to be more enduring than anyone else on this list so far.

Rousey first stepped into the ring at WrestleMania 31 in 2015 when she and The Rock faced Triple H and The Authority.

Then, three years later, Rousey returned to the group, appearing in the closing stages of the Royal Rumble in early 2018.

Rousey made the switch to WWE the next month during Elimination Chamber, signing her contract and knocking Triple H through a table in the process.

Evander Holyfield

The former undisputed champion stepped into the ring in 2007’s Main Event 35 on Saturday night.

Holyfield was brought in to replace MVP for his fight against Matt Hardy.

As Hardy struggled to keep up, MVP stormed into the ring only to be KO’d by Holyfield after making the mistake of wanting to hear his voice, according to Sportskeeda.

Another former undisputed champion, Tyson and ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin got into a fight on an episode of Monday Night Raw in 1998 and were subsequently separated by officials.

On the next episode of Raw, Shawn Michaels and D-Generation X got into a fight with Tyson, but in the end the three agreed.

Tyson continued to serve as the special ring enforcer for WrestleMania 14 between Michaels and Austin.

After Austin was crowned champion, an enrager was knocked out by Tyson after confronting him.

Tyson was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.

Muhammad Ali

That’s right, the People’s Champion himself made two appearances for the WWE (or WWF, as it was then called) in 1976 and 1985.

In 1976, Ali, who was watching from the ring, and Gorilla Monsoon exchanged heated words before Ali stormed the ring – which ended with Monsoon getting Ali in a spin and throwing him to the mat.

Ali’s next appearance was during WrestleMania 1, where he served as a special judge when Hulk Hogan and Mr. T faced off against Rowdy Roddy Piper and Mr Wonderful Paul Orndorff.

However, Ali got his hands dirty on a number of occasions, with commentators observing at the time: “We knew he was going to play an important role in this game and Muhammad Ali as an outside officer is keeping order.”
