Video of the incident showed another fan suddenly turning in front of him and slapping him in the face.

Other viewers rushed to the injured fan’s aid and helped authorities identify the attacker.

Fans could be heard calling for security and emergency officials to help in videos from the scene.

According to TMZ Sports, the slapped fan woke up a few minutes later.

And the police came to arrest the puncher who was trying to flee the scene.

A statement from the NYPD to TMZ said there was no argument before the strike.

It continued: “The defendant approached the victim (without reason) and hit him.”

NBC New York reports that a witness tried to stop the attacker and was also punched in the face.

The man’s name was James Anastasio, 29, from Staten Island and was arrested while he was still in the arena.

Police added that both men who were beaten refused medical treatment.

Tampa Bay Lightning had just won game five of the NHL playoff series and took a 3-2 lead.
