But the daring rodent didn’t stop there and kept running back for more before scurrying away again.

As reported by DevonLiveDisgusted pub-goer Mark Baker complained to the relevant authorities about the rat.

He also criticized the drunkard online in scathing reviews on Tripadvisor.

Mark said: “I was eating at the Mill on the Exe last week and there was a rat eating on the table next to me.

“I contacted the St Austell office and found the response unacceptable.

“I reported the issue to Exeter City Council’s Environment Agency and left a response on Tripadvisor.

“You have to do something about it.”

In response to the worrying footage, Exeter City Council’s environmental health department is carrying out regular inspections at the venue.

Meanwhile, St Austell Brewery, which owns the pub on Bonhay Road, admitted that several of its riverside properties are also struggling with rat infestations.

However, they insisted that measures had been taken to bring the worrying situation under control.

A spokesperson for St Austell Brewery said: “We can confirm that Environmental Health is aware of this matter and is carrying out regular visits to monitor and support the situation, which is affecting riverside properties from the weir to the quay, including the mill .” on the Exe.

“We are working closely with Environmental Health and continuing to follow all advice.

“Last week, during their most recent visit to the region, they confirmed that they were satisfied with the extensive measures we have taken to address the situation affecting our outdoor areas.

“We have contacted the guest and apologized for the impact this incident had on their experience and outlined the actions we have taken and will continue to take with the support of local authorities.”

An Exeter City Council spokesman said: “All cases reported to the environmental health team are of course investigated, but we do not comment on specific cases.”

This comes as other giant rats have been caught on camera.

A disgusting rodent was filmed dragging a Big Mac burger box across a busy road.

The hungry pest was spotted in Tankersley, South Yorkshire, pulling a box about the same size as him.

Meanwhile, a retired pub boss plagued by rats in his garden has caught one the size of a small dog.

Derek Blamire, 82, had his wife Sylvia, 80, take a photo of the dead Border Terrier-sized rat while he held it up with a trash collector.

A huge rodent was also filmed running around a window in a Primark store.

The giant rat was filmed by stunned passers-by after they spotted it at the exhibition in Bexleyheath, south London, on Christmas Eve.
