When police arrived at the store, “several” people were injured after being hit by the male driver, who has not been publicly identified at this time.

Kevin Bradley, 65, of New Jersey was killed at the scene.

Apple said he was a “professional who was on site and supported the recent build of the store.”

The driver was also injured, witnesses said, but was able to speak to investigators after being pulled from the car.

dr Jason Tracy, chief of emergency medicine at South Shore Hospital, said several victims arrived at the emergency room suffering from “all kinds of traumatic injuries,” including head wounds and “mutilated limbs.”

Some of the victims underwent surgery, Tracy said, and others will eventually need surgery as well.

Some of the other patients suffered life-threatening injuries, said Chris Burns, the hospital’s trauma chief.

Four people were trapped inside the store during the chaos but have since been rescued.

“It’s absolutely unthinkable, absolutely tragic,” District Attorney Tim Cruz said in a news conference.

Witnesses said the black Toyota 4Runner was accelerating at high speed when it crashed into the building, but it’s unclear if there is surveillance camera footage.

The vehicle was removed from the area around 3:30 p.m. and had severe damage to the front.

The building is being evaluated following initial reports that the store is on the verge of collapsing, but officials believe there are no structural integrity issues.

A witness told the Boston 25 News that the crash sounded “like a bomb went off.”

“We saw several people who should have seen a doctor but they didn’t want to go over because they knew other people were critical,” Lynne Goyuk said.
