NEW details have surfaced in the haunting death of a cyclist allegedly killed by a love rival.
Professional cyclist Anna Moriah “Mo” Wilson, 25, was found dead on May 11 while competing in a cycling competition in Austin, Texas.
According to an affidavit and warrant filed May 19, Moriah was “covered in blood on the bathroom floor.”
Several fired shell casings lay on the ground near her body, a firearm was not immediately found, read the document.
Police officers in the state are hunting 34-year-old Kaitlin Armstrong, who is believed to have shot the athlete multiple times out of jealous rage.
According to Moriah’s friend Caitlin Cash, Moriah had allegedly said she wanted to go swimming with fellow cyclist Colin Strickland, 35.
The two had a brief fling last year after Strickland’s relationship with Armstrong went on hiatus.
The two remained friends after that relationship ended and still spent time together.
However, Armstrong reportedly only found out about the brief romance in January, and it’s believed by law enforcement that she snapped after learning about her boyfriend’s secret date with Moriah on May 11.
Cops said Strickland told Armstrong he wanted to deliver flowers, but his phone’s battery died, so he couldn’t reach her.
But he did take a dip with Moriah in the Deep Eddy pool – which police say motivated Armstrong to seek deadly revenge.
Strickland had escorted his former lover back to the house around 8:30 p.m., just before Armstrong’s black 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee was found roaming the street.
She is believed to have discovered the duo’s location after finding Moriah’s public account on the Strava fitness app.
Shortly after the SUV was captured by a Ring camera, Moriah’s girlfriend returned home to find her shot to death in a pool of blood.
Yoga teacher Armstrong then returned home to Strickland after allegedly murdering the 25-year-old and was arrested by police – before disappearing.
However, Moriah’s family stated that she was not in a romantic relationship with anyone at the time of her death. The family cleared up the claims about the alleged romance to KXAN.
“While we won’t go into detail about the ongoing investigation, we think it’s important to clarify that at the time of her death those closest to her clearly understood, directly from Moriah, that she was not romantically involved with anyone,” she said she told the family in a written statement.
“We are absolutely devastated by the loss of our beautiful daughter and sister, Anna Moriah Wilson. There are no words that can express the pain and suffering we are going through at this senseless, tragic loss.
“Moriah was a talented, kind and caring young woman. Her life was taken from her before she had the opportunity to achieve everything she dreamed of. She will be missed forever by our family and everyone who loved her.”
“WINNEST WOMAN IN AMERICA”
Dubbed “America’s Most Victorious Woman,” Moriah sustained multiple gunshot wounds as America’s leading gravel cyclist.
Investigators concluded that she had been hit multiple times with a 9mm round – the same caliber of the gun Strickland reportedly bought for himself and Armstrong.
Ballistics evidence also supported this theory, as a warrant was issued for Armstrong’s arrest.
The 34-year-old, who is also being pursued by the FBI, deleted all her social media accounts and is now on the run.
Strickland issued a statement Friday, insisting his relationship with Moirah was merely “platonic and professional.”
Armstrong and Strickland had been in a relationship for about three years but took a break when his relationship with Moriah took place.
He wrote: “There is no way to adequately express the regret and anguish I feel at my closeness to this horrific crime.
“I admired her a lot and considered her a close friend. I deeply mourn her loss.”
Considered by many to be a rising star in cycling, Moriah had only recently turned professional.
