Shocking details emerge after cops uncover crucial clues about a private investigator’s decomposed remains in his garage

Shocking new details have emerged about a private investigator found dead in his garage.

Marjorie “Nikki” Cappello allegedly poisoned her husband Jim Cappello, 37, with insulin in September 2018 and reportedly asked friends to help her dispose of the body.

But one of her pals, Crystal Anderson, called officers in Huntsville, Alabama, because she was concerned, the WAFF reported.

Police officers rushed to the house and smelled the odor of a decaying corpse.

Officers also noticed a hole in her backyard.

Jim was found in the garage and his feet had been placed on a floor panel as if someone was trying to put him in a car, cops said.

According to investigators, insulin was missing from the health facility where Cappello worked.

Huntsville Police Department Major Crimes Investigator Mike DeNoon said Cappello told police she accidentally brought the insulin home from work.

There was no record of any patient requiring the drug.

And there’s no indication that Cappello or Jim needed insulin.

Cops said Jim had become suspicious that his wife was abusing drugs.

He reportedly found a bottle of insulin but didn’t know what it was when he first found it.

DeNoon asked Cappello, “You know I went in…you know I found him, right?”

She replied, “Yes, I knew he was there.”

Phones, computers and tablets were taken from her home as part of the search warrant, and forensic teams analyzed surveillance footage.

She also gave up her foster license.

Jim’s sister Jamie Weast told PEOPLE in August 2020: “My heart was sinking and I was nauseous.

“I prayed and prayed and prayed so much that maybe somehow miraculously he wasn’t.

“I didn’t want it to be him. It couldn’t be him. I begged the Lord not to let it, but a detective pulled me aside and it was him.

“He was well known in his community and brought great people together. It’s a tragedy and it’s amazing.”

She branded her brother’s death “appalling and disgusting,” WAFF reported.

Jim’s father, Jim Cappello Sr., said, “No one wants to lose their children first, especially to something like this. That’s all that counts. The world just collapsed on you.”

Cappello has been charged with murder and her trial is ongoing.

Her trial was scheduled to take place in January 2020 but was delayed due to Covid-19 and legal manoeuvres.

If convicted, Cappello faces life behind bars.
