Shocking details emerge about the Idaho murders when the former renter of the murder house speaks up and the police, bizarrely, don’t offer a cash bounty

A former tenant of the Idaho murder home has spoken out about “footsteps” being heard on “every floor” as cops search for the killer without reward.

It has been over a month since four University of Idaho students were brutally stabbed to death at an off-campus home in Moscow, Idaho.

Police have yet to name a suspect, leaving victims’ families and the Moscow community searching for answers as the university continues its winter break.

On November 13, between 3 and 4 a.m., roommates Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, and Xana Kernodle, 20, were murdered along with Xana’s boyfriend, Ethan Chapin, 20.

Two surviving housemates – Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke, both 19 – slept through the attack, according to police.

Dylan and Bethany were on the first floor while the victims were found on the second and third floors, police officers said.

Police have already ruled out Dylan and Bethany as suspects, claiming they had nothing to do with the attacks.

While the public remains largely in the dark about the attacks, a former tenant of the Moscow home shared some chilling details with Fox News Digital.

“It’s a very creaky old house,” said former tenant Cole Alteneder. “You can hear footsteps on every floor.”

Cole graduated in 2022 and lived in the home during his junior year. He had a second floor bedroom above one of the first floor bedrooms.

“The person who lived downstairs always said he could hear me walking around,” said Cole.

“I had a desk and a wheelchair and he could hear it rolling around.”

Cole said he and his roommates could also hear all the voices in the house.

The house was poorly insulated and the “ventilation system was really weird so you could hear everyone in the whole house talking,” he said.

He said everyone has learned to block out the sounds and is used to it.

Despite Cole’s experience, another 2019 ex-tenant – who lived on the first floor – previously told the outlet that he typically “didn’t hear anything” from the second and third floors unless his roommate turned the TV on loud .

Ryan Augusta, 43, said: “I wouldn’t have heard it [activity] from underneath.”

Cole said if Ryan had the bedroom on the first floor which was directly below the living room and the living room wasn’t being used then that would make sense.

PARTY NEIGHBORHOOD

According to Cole, the house was in a busy area.

“There was always something going on in the neighborhood, someone was throwing a party or retiring,” he said.

Cole added that many people visited the house and knew the floor plan.

“It’s terrible, I feel terrible about it [the victims] and their families,” Cole, who met Madison at a few classes but didn’t know her personally, told the outlet.

“I still have a lot of friends in Moscow, so I’m thinking of them and their safety and Moscow itself, which is usually such a safe and fun community.”

Police have not yet offered a cash reward for information that could help locate the killer.

None of Idaho’s three Crime Stoppers programs also give money for tips on the murders.

Crime Stoppers hasn’t even said anything about the brutal killings, which is “surprising,” according to a region program director who spoke to the New York Post.

The Southwest Idaho branch is one of the Crime Stoppers programs that gives cash awards, except for student stabbings.

Though there may be no reward, the public is still inclined to help the police, who are receiving 10,000 leads and leads into the murders.

The US Sun reached out to Cole Alteneder and Crime Stoppers of Southwest Idaho for comment, but no response had been received by the time of publication.
