Williams’ five other children, aged between three months and seven years, were placed in foster care, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Family and Protection Services said.
The mentally disturbed 26-year-old admitted to hitting her helpless young son multiple times on the day of his death and punching him in the temple and stomach with a clenched fist, a detective said.
She then hit him several times in the face and back with an extension cord.
Police responded to a report of an injured child just before 11:30 a.m. Monday at the 2800 block of Silkwood Street in south Dallas.
According to police, the Dallas Fire-Rescue also responded to the call and found Zamaurian dead in the home with “signs of trauma,” according to the WFAA.
Child protection services are understood to have known the family and had previously removed the children from William’s care, including the five-year-old, who died, the outlet said.
Police have launched an investigation and are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the Dallas Police Child Abuse Unit.
