The sudden noise was reportedly felt through the floor, but frightened passengers had no idea what caused it.

Fortunately, the 14-hour journey passed without further problems and the cabin crew remained calm.

But after landing at Brisbane International Airport at almost 11pm, travelers were stunned to discover a gaping hole in the plane’s side.

Photos show where the aircraft’s left fuselage was ruptured, believed to be caused by a bolt loosening in the nose gear.

Passengers were shocked they managed to travel more than 7,000 miles in a damaged plane.

Especially since the airline crew remained so relaxed after the deafening bang.

A passenger on board the plane told Courier Mail: “There was a loud bang and I felt it through the ground too.

“The cabin crew stayed calm, stopped the food service and went on the phone and checked the wings, engines.”

Another holidaymaker, Chris, was also stunned by the discovery of the hole upon landing.

He said: “Before we landed, they told us we needed to land on a different runway and ask an engineer to inspect the plane for a suspected landing gear problem.”

An Emirates spokesman told Daily Mail Australia the plane is being repaired.

They said: “Our flight EK430, flying from Dubai to Brisbane on July 1, experienced a technical error during the cruise.

“The plane landed safely in Brisbane and all passengers disembarked as planned.

“The aircraft will remain in Brisbane for assessment and repairs. The safety of our passengers and crew has always been our top priority.”
