Sheep Fire in Wrightwood soars to 150 acres, with high winds fanning blazes near homes in California

A FIRE in Wrightwood has reportedly grown to about 150 acres in size, with high winds fanning flames near homes in California.

As of 1:30 p.m. local time, firefighters said the sheep fire was only 5% contained.

Shortly before 3 p.m. local time, additional help was requested in the form of 15 engines.

Officials also said the fire is becoming more active, with some trees being set on fire and burned.

Evacuation orders are in place for the Desert Front Road area north of Wrightwood.

Firefighters are going door-to-door in the affected area, according to the San Bernardino County Fire Department.

Residents are urged to prepare if the evacuation area grows.

The road closures along State Route 2 remain in effect.

The fire is managed by the Angeles National Forest and the Cal Fire San Bernardino Unit.

San Bernardino County Fire is also helping.

More than 200 firefighters were called to the scene.

The fire was first reported just after 6:30 p.m. Friday night and was less than an acre in size.

Officials say the cause of the fire is under investigation.
