Shanquella Robinson’s friends share heartbreaking details about her life after she was beaten to death at a Mexican resort.

FRIENDS of Shanquella Robinson, a woman who died while vacationing with friends in Mexico, are now sharing how loving she was months after officials began investigating her death.

Robinson, 25, was found dead by doctors in a luxury villa in Mexico after traveling to celebrate a friend’s birthday on October 29.

There were conflicting accounts of how the North Carolina native died when friends she was traveling with told her parents she had alcohol poisoning.

However, in the weeks following her death, Robinson’s mother, Salamondra, revealed that the autopsy revealed that “she had a broken neck and her spine was broken in the back. She had been beaten.”

At the same time, a frightening video allegedly showing a violent attack on the 25-year-old went viral on social media.

While US State Department officials in Mexico have denied any foul play, Mexican authorities confirmed in November that Robinson’s death was being investigated as a homicide.

The months-long investigation has raised many questions from Robinson’s family and friends, including childhood friend Kayla Mitchell.

“”What’s up? What is the progress, what is in motion? what is the schedule That’s my question,” Mitchell told WBTV.

“It’s been months now. We have no real updates, no progress as we see, you know, we’re all wondering why is it taking so long?

In a recent interview with the outlet, Mitchell reflected on her longstanding friendship with Robinson, who she met as a freshman at West Charlotte High School.

The two eventually worked as teammates on the cheerleading squad.

“We started the IB program as we instantly bonded through our love of fashion, we love to dress up,” Mitchell said.

“We tried our best every day and we loved taking photos, so our relationship started.”

Looking back on Robinson’s life, Mitchell reflected on how she “lived.”

“She was alive. She was just full of energy, just full of love.”

Mitchell specifically referenced a year on Robinson’s birthday when she gave her a Dunkin’ Donuts hot chocolate.

“You’d think I’d brought her the most extravagant gift ever,” she recalled.

“She was just so happy recording on her snapchat like it was a real moment for her. So just, you know, just the simplest thing to keep her happy. That puts a smile on my face for the last time I can remember just a moment where I can remember that she was just happy and in good company.

Mitchell told the outlet she was “devastated” to learn of the death of her childhood friend.

“She was so young, she had so much left to live. As if we were planning to work together, as if there was just so much to come. As did her wealth, her business boomed, as if it was just so much to look forward to.”

While many questions remain, Mitchell believes justice will be done for those responsible for Robinson’s death.

“You can’t run away from justice,” she said.

“God is a just God. So whatever you do when people aren’t there, God sees and that’s the ultimate…like you have to go through him and you can’t escape him and his righteousness.”

In January, a “red alert” notice was issued for a suspect in Robinson’s death.

Baja California Sur Attorney General Daniel de la Rosa Anaya said at the time that authorities were working to locate and extradite an unnamed suspect.

According to WCNC, his office is working closely with the International Criminal Police Organization, known as Interpol, to publish the Red Notice.

De la Rosa Anaya added that Robinson’s death is being investigated as a femicide.
