Shane Warne wants Joe Root to continue as England Test captain despite their side’s underperformance in the Ashes

Former Australian giant Shane Warne supported Joe Root to continue captaining the British Test despite their performance in the Ashes. He also thinks that Root needs a good support group to help him make decisions because the current crop is not enough.

Root’s team selection and tactics were laid out in the ongoing Ashes, where England track 0-3 with a Trial to play. As a result, there were mixed opinions about his future as captain. However, the entire group, notably Ben Stokes, has Root back.

Talking to talk, Warne emphasizes on the right-handed player taking on the role of captain. However, the 52-year-old leader admits that Roots needs better tacticians in his ranks. Shane Warne says:

“I think Joe Root is someone who can be the captain of the team. I think he should continue to be the captain. However, what he needs is not people or data on sports science. He is. maybe there are those. But he needs what around him is hard, Check out the match players who have been there and know the game of cricket.”

Shane Warne added:

“They can help him with tactics and strategy. If you surround him with a few of them, you’ll see the best of Root. You’ll have to say there aren’t enough knowledgeable people out there. good about cricket around him.”

The 31-year-old, who has accumulated more than 1700 runs by 2021, is not yet his best with Batman in the series. Although Root had made it three centuries, he was unable to translate those hits into triples. The captain also scored two ducks.

“England will be disappointed with the way they’ve played. They should have played a lot better. But I think Australia has also been absolutely brilliant. I just think the England team got a lot of fundamental things wrong. does Stuart Broad not play that first trial?”

Shane Warne added:

“When you think about the Ashes franchise in 2019 and what Broad did with David Warner, he owned him. When they announced Broad wasn’t playing, how do you think Warner felt? Real selections? very horrible. They didn’t have any of them right.”
