A 13-year-old victim of “sex trafficking” was rescued after police discovered a chilling clue in a car during a traffic stop last week.

The cantonal police department said an officer conducted a traffic stop around 10:24 a.m. on June 22 that led to a trafficking arrest on North Street near Railroad Street in Canton, Georgia.

A press release issued two days after the incident explains that a young woman was stopped for holding her phone while driving and arrested on “human trafficking, kidnapping and several other charges”.

The young driver was unable to provide the officer with a driver’s license or ID, prompting him to complete the vehicle registration.

He then learned the vehicle, a 2014 Dodge Caravan, had been reported stolen from North Carolina, police said.

“A search of the van was conducted and resulted in the recovery of 13 THC vape cartridges, three vape pens, a THC nerds rope and a large quantity of underwear,” the press release reads.

“Due to the relationship and the items in the vehicle, detectives have been summoned to the scene.”

When detectives arrived at the scene to investigate, they found the passenger was 13 years old and a victim of human trafficking and kidnapping.

They also determined that the driver was a 16-year-old teenager.

Police determined the victim had been taken to another state and arrested the driver on a number of charges.

The charges were listed as follows: human trafficking for the purpose of labor or sexual bondage, kidnapping, giving false names, addresses or dates of birth, theft by receiving stolen property stolen from other states, unlawful use of a wireless device, and VGCSA possession substance controlled by a.

Canton Police Municipality Commissioner and PIO Pacer Cordry told Fox5Atlanta, “The intuition of the officer who put everything together based on his experience knew something was wrong.”

He commended the officer for his actions, adding, “If you think of all the terrible things that could happen to a 13-year-old trafficking victim, he could have saved a life.”

According to the news agency, investigators have yet to find out how the two young teenagers knew each other and if anyone else was involved.

The 13-year-old was returning home with her parents, who were driving from North Carolina to pick her up after the traffic stop.

The 16-year-old is now in custody in a regional youth detention center.

The unidentified 16-year-old is reportedly due to be questioned by investigators this week.

He said in a statement: “Through a routine traffic stop and conducting an extraordinary investigation, members of the canton police have forever changed a young girl’s life for the better.”
