Sevilla refuse to sign Anthony Martial on a permanent basis as they send the striker back to Man Utd after a failed loan

ANTHONY MARTIAL is on his way back to Manchester United after Sevilla turned down the chance to sign him.
The striker joined Julen Lopetegui’s squad on loan during the January transfer window.

But he missed six games through injury, scoring just one goal A Tor, and was even mocked by his own fans in a miserable spell.
Now Sevilla have confirmed they will NOT consider a permanent contract.
Club president Jose Castro said: “Anthony Martial will return to Man United.
“We spent a lot of money on him, but it didn’t work.

“Besides, he had injuries and we will not buy him permanently.”
The fourth-place La Liga side are believed to be paying 40 per cent of Martial’s £240,000 a week wages.
That’s £96,000 a week for a modest return this season.
After 12 appearances for the team, including nine in La Liga, many would have expected a fresh start to revitalize the Frenchman’s faltering career.

However, he failed to present the kind of form he would like to show to either convince Erik ten Hag to put him in his Man Utd plans or solicit a transfer offer.
Martial has been sent to Sevilla by Ralf Rangnick after failing to amass any significant minutes under any of the three managers who have managed United this season.
He started just two Premier League games this season before going on loan and scored in his 57-minute appearance against Everton in October – his only other goal of the season.

The 26-year-old joined United from Monaco for £36million in 2015 and became British football’s most expensive teenager.
He still has two years left on his lucrative contract at Old Trafford.
