Seven matches were postponed under strange circumstances including the 1999 Torquay solar eclipse that caused CHAOS

TOTTENHAM’s match at Burnley was postponed on Sunday after heavy snow made it impossible to play at Turf Moor.
Very few Premier League matches are postponed these days but SunSport has uncovered the 7 most famous cancellations in history.
There have been a number of funny and scary reasons why matches had to be pushed back and some matches turned weird.
And here are seven…
BURNLEY BLIZZARD
Pictures from the ground show blizzard-like conditions, but typical of Sean Dyche fashion, he stands chatting with referee Peter Bankes without his jacket on.
The match was originally scheduled for 2pm, with frenzied shoveling taking place in an attempt to clear the snow from the pitch.
According to Sky Sports, Antonio Conte and Co arrived on the pitch and went straight to a meeting with officials about whether the match would go ahead.
And they quickly came to the conclusion that the match would be postponed.

TORQUAY ECLIPSE 1999
Eclipses are extremely rare, and scientists usually know in advance that they are coming.
But Torquay United officials did not receive the memo shortly before the turn of the millennium.
Devonshire Police have been forced to suspend their League Cup tie with Portsmouth as they are expecting a downpour of tourists.
The rescheduled fixture ended 0-0 so it’s probably best for the eclipse to take precedence.
TRAFFORD BOMB SCARE
A much more sinister delay came in 2016 at Old Trafford.
Manchester United are set to face Bournemouth in the final game of the season when Reports of a suspicious package left in the toilet began to appear.
The match was immediately postponed and the entire stadium was evacuated.
It is the first time a top game in England has been postponed for security reasons in 24 years.
The final package was described as an ‘unbelievably lifelike explosive device’ from an exercise but not a real bomb.
THE CRISIS THROUGH THE US Flu
Tottenham fans to this day still lament the ‘Lasagne Gate’ in 2006 when they lost to West Ham on the last day of the season to miss out on a Champions League spot against nasty rivals Arsenal.
There were some cases of food poisoning in the team but they couldn’t pull it out.
The same could not have happened with Middlesbrough in 1997 when the flu swept through Bryan Robson’s squad.
Just 24 hours before their game against Blackburn, the club reported that the outbreak between the teams meant they were unable to assemble the 16 suitable players needed to complete the fixture.
The game didn’t go ahead and the Teesiders were fined £500,000 and won three points.
They were relegated with two points at the end of the season. Awks.
FROME CHEESE SHOW CLASH
Surely this can only happen in the UK?
In 2015, Frome Town postponed its match against Chippenham Town so it wouldn’t clash with the infamous local cheese show.
Tens of thousands of people visit the milk party each year, which is significantly more than Frome’s crowd of 3,000.
MADONNA MAKES MARSEILLE MAD
Now Madonna has no way to blame this even though it is one of the more compelling reasons for a football match to be moved.
In 2009, the superstar singer was set to play a gig at OM’s Stade Velodrome.
But the giant stage had already fallen apart and a subsequent police investigation meant the Ligue 1 giants were unable to play their second game of the season.

TALLINN OFF light
This is so strange.
Scotland traveled to Estonia in 1996 for a World Cup qualifier.
But when they arrived, tourists complained that the flood lights were not bright enough.
Initially, Fifa put the game on from 6:45pm to 3pm for more natural light.
The home team is very angry at the loss of revenue from the television segment.
And in an even weirder turn of events, participants dropped out of the match after just three seconds.
