Serie A introduces bizarre new rules including a ban on green away shirts and a limit of one striped shirt per club

SERIES A will introduce a new rule prohibiting football clubs from using certain kits.
The new regulations will prevent clubs from using green away kits and restrict teams to just one striped kit.

The decision to introduce the rule by the Italian league was taken to help with virtual advertising.
During the televised matches, some players in green shirts had “disappeared” from the picture.
Clubs must also design their away kits to be very different from the home kits.
If the home shirt is predominantly dark, the away shirt must be light and vice versa.
If the stripes are striped or checked, the alternative shirt cannot be of the same color, except in small details.
The rule comes into effect at the beginning of the 2023/24 season and is binding from the 2024/25 season.
The color green will continue to be allowed on the club’s home kits, allowing Serie A Sassuolo to keep their traditional kit.
Many clubs also traditionally have stripes on their kits, with league giants AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus all boasting the style.

However, if they want to keep their traditional home kits, their alternates will no longer be allowed to have stripes effective immediately.
With the new rules, clubs must also ensure that goalkeepers have three different options to avoid clashes.
The ban was attempted in 2021 when Serie A tried to ban green shirts, but it was unsuccessful at the time.
At the time, it was argued that TV stations complained that players wearing green were blending into the grass.
