Boss Guardiola plans to review the 21-year-old in training before deciding whether to field a more experienced option.

After Zinchenko joined Arsenal for £30m, City ducked out of the race for Marc Cucurella, who instead joined Chelsea for £62m.

And if Under-21 international Gomez needs more time, Guardiola is reportedly ready to loan him out to La Liga side Girona.

But he enjoyed a breakthrough in Belgium last season after playing at Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona B.

Despite his mainly defensive role, Gomez managed a remarkable 15 assists in 49 games in all competitions for Anderlecht.

He is poised to become City’s fifth first-team signing of the summer.

Erling Haaland and Kalvin Phillips stole the transfer headlines.

But Stefan Ortega and Julian Alvarez also want to make an impact quickly in their first Prem campaigns.

City are believed to still be planning to loan Portuguese minnows Pacos de Ferreira to Wing Whizkid starlet Kayky.

The 19-year-old Brazilian joined Etihad from hometown club Fluminense a year ago.

It is understood that clubs in Belgium and France were interested in him

But City believe the Portuguese option is best for Kayky’s development.
