Serena Williams’ stepmother finally concedes defeat in her legal battle to save her ‘crumbling’ home

SERENA Williams’ stepmother has finally conceded defeat in her legal battle to keep the tennis legend’s childhood home, which is being sold to pay off her half-million dollar debt.

Lakeisha Williams, 43, the estranged wife of “King Richard” Williams, has appointed a specialist foreclosure firm that will oversee the sale of the Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., home and distribute the proceeds among her creditors.

The move ends the five-year court case in which Lekeisha allegedly forged the signature of her ex-husband Richard, 80, to change the mortgage deed in her name after the four-bed property had been owned by the Williams family since 1995.

She then took out a $255,000 loan from “hard lender” David Simon, which she blew on a doomed truck deal, and was unable to keep a repayment schedule after Simon accused her of spending all her money on “Almost.” Food and Frivolities”. .

Lakeisha attempted to delay foreclosure by filing for bankruptcy three times, but two of those attempts were thrown out and the third also appears to be going in the same direction.

The once-smart home has fallen into such bad shape with problems including a badly leaking roof that Simon claims it’s uninsurable and has been pushing for sale as it’s the only asset that could pay off its debts, which now exist at $513,213 including interest.

An auction was supposed to take place on September 27, but it’s unclear if that took place.

Lakeisha has now hired Get Liquid Funding LLC and its attorney, Megan Widmeyer, to handle the home sale and court proceeding from now on.

Get Liquid Funding and Lakeisha have signed a “Recovery Agreement and Total Assignment of Surplus Funds” which has been filed with the Fifteenth Circuit in Palm Beach County.

The finance company’s website states, “We’ll help you and your family with realistic options as you go through foreclosure,” adding, “If your home is already in foreclosure, we can help you fund the excess.” receive after your house is sold.”

While real estate sites value the place at over $1.4 million, the real figure is almost half that due to its appalling condition.

The agreement states that a real estate appraiser’s “approximate estimated value” was $736,168.

But it’s not all doom and gloom for Lakeisha as after paying back to Simon there is an excess balance totaling $222,954.

Under the terms, Lakeisha will receive 88 percent and Get Liquid Funding 12 percent for their services, equal to $196,199 and $26,754, respectively.

It’s the latest — and perhaps final — twist in the long-running soap opera between Richard and his estranged wife.

At one point, it appeared the two had temporarily reconciled as she halted their divorce and asked the courts to dismiss the case. Their attorney stated that they “have maintained an active married life, including regular weekly sexual relationships, including but not limited to January 9, 2022.”
