Legendary Hindi actor Seema Deo has died aged 83 after battling Alzheimer’s.
The Indian cinema star passed away on Thursday, just a year after the death of her beloved husband and actor Ramesh Deo, 93.
The couple’s youngest son, filmmaker Abhinay Deo, announced the news of his mother’s death in a brief statement.
He said: “Mum passed away this morning.
“She was fine, she had Alzheimer’s, but otherwise she was fine.”
Seema’s family announced in 2020 that she had been diagnosed with the brain condition and called on fans to pray for her.
Abhinay later told PTI, “She died of old age between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. at her home in Bandra.”
“She was completely withdrawn, and eventually it’s just age.”
“Alzheimer’s is so bad that you don’t know how to function anymore.
“She had dementia that led to Alzheimer’s and she suffered with it for over three years.”
