MANUEL NEUER’s end of the year went from bad to worse after breaking his leg just days after suffering heartbreak at the World Cup.
The German goalkeeper confirmed that he had an accident during a ski trip and had to undergo surgery for a broken leg.
He will now miss the rest of the season.
Neuer, 36, and Germany were sent out of the World Cup early after an embarrassing elimination from the group stage.
The Bayern Munich ace then went skiing to clear his head, only to break his leg in an accident.
Neuer wrote on Instagram from his hospital bed: “Hey guys, what can I say, the end of the year could have definitely gone better…
“While I was trying to clear my head while ski touring, I broke my lower leg. The operation yesterday went well.
“Thank you to the doctors! However, it hurts to know that the current season is over for me.”
