Schoolgirl suffers the ultimate betrayal when the person who has endured years of online bullying is revealed to be the person she trusts the most

A SCHOOLGIRL who was bullied online for a year found out the anonymous troll behind the hate messages was actually her mother.

Kendra Gail Licari, 42, has been charged after the FBI was called in to help find the cruel bully who was sending the girl and her then-boyfriend up to a dozen messages a day.

Michigan’s Licari had used a VPN to hide her trail of heinous messages — and she also stuffed her posts with slang to pretend they were written by a teenager.

But detectives were eventually able to link the sophisticated catfishing scheme to Licari – who sent the bad news to her own daughter.

She has been charged with two counts of stalking a minor, two counts of using a computer to commit a crime and one count of obstructing justice, reports The Morning Sun.

Authorities said the harassment campaign began in early 2021.

After the schoolgirl asked her mother for help, Licari allegedly reported the bullying to authorities.

Licari even teamed up with the mother of her daughter’s then-boyfriend to “help” track down the bully.

They reported the harassment to the children’s school, which then referred the investigation to local police and FBI analysts.

Isabella County Prosecutor David Barberi told local radio station WKRC: “When the case first came to our office, it was bizarre and almost unbelievable.

“We’re talking hundreds of text messages here, over 1,000 discovery pages in this case.”

Barberi said the messages were “mostly just harassing text messages, demeaning, demoralizing and just plain mean texts.”

After opening an investigation, FBI computer experts determined that the messages were sent from Licari’s phone.

The mother reportedly admitted the horrific campaign of bullying against her daughter when questioned by detectives.

Beal City school principal William Chilman said Licari was the basketball coach at her daughter’s school at the time of the offences.

He reportedly said she hadn’t been asked to return “due to a change in coaching”.

Licari was charged on December 12 and released on $5,000 bail.

Using a computer to commit a crime is a US criminal offense carrying a possible 10-year prison sentence.

Charges of stalking a minor and obstructing justice could carry an additional five-year prison sentence.

Licari is next scheduled to appear in court on December 29.
