CHELSEA holds the top of the Premier League table with a 2-1 victory at Watford.
Goals from Mason Mount and Hakim Ziyech secured a crucial win at Vicarage Road following Sunday’s draw with Manchester United.
But who was Chelsea’s best player against the Hornets? And does anyone have a game to forget?
Here, Simon Phillips gives his rating of Chelsea players…
Edouard Mendy – 7/ ten
He really kept Chelsea in the game for the first 45 with two excellent saves, and he couldn’t do much for Watford’s first goal.
Usually he had little to do, but not on Vicarage Road.
Trevoh Chalobah – 6
One of the few who didn’t look too shocked in the first 45 minutes for Chelsea but still wasn’t great.
Unfortunately, he suffered a hamstring injury early in the second half.

Andreas Christensen – 6
He looked a bit out of place in the center of the defence as Chelsea tried to overwhelm and were closed by Watford.
He certainly doesn’t deliver the kind of confidence that Thiago Silva does. He played better in the second half playing at right-back.
Antonio Rudiger – 6
The first 45 minutes were very poor from him, which is very unusual lately. He was taking the ball away and trying in vain to get it out.
Again, like those around him, he improved a lot in the second half.
Cesar Azpilicueta – 4
The captain certainly did not show his composure when the people around were in a hurry in the first half.
He’s pretty useless at full-back and doesn’t help keep the ball at all. No wonder he’s gone.
Saul Niguez – 2
Unfortunately, I have to refrain from some very bad words that I would like to use to describe his performance.
He was absolutely shocking, sent off at half-time and didn’t even have the quality of League Two let alone the Premier League. Disgusting.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek – 6
Another poor point out of his first 45, he couldn’t keep the ball, was constantly tackled, and his passing was poor as well.
Loftus-Cheek lost the ball in the middle of the field to help Watford score. He played better in the second half despite being like the majority of Chelsea players.
Marcos Alonso – 4
Another astonishing poor score from Alonso’s first 45 at left-back – it really shows the huge gap between his qualities and Ben Chilwell’s.
Watford are targeting the Spaniard on the left flank. However, he did well in Chelsea’s second goal.
Mason Mount – 8
One of the few bright flashes of Chelsea that propels things forward. He accomplished his goal very well and gave Chelsea a complete lead in terms of play.
Even better, assisting Ziyech to put Chelsea ahead.
Christian Pulisic – 6
He was also all over the place for the first 45, unable to dribble, unable to pass, constantly allowing and he wasn’t much help defensively either.
His second half was much better and he influenced things a lot more. Spent the last 20 minutes of the game at right-back.
Kai Havertz – 8
He did a good job setting up Mount and had a couple of good dribbles in the first half.
Along with Mount, he is one of the more lively Chelsea players.

Thiago Silva for Saul (HT) – 7
Came on the pitch to bring some experience and composure to the Chelsea defence, and he made an immediate positive impact.
Hakim Ziyech for Chalobah (59 minutes) – 6
Forced to make a substitution when Chalobah was injured, he unleashed a superb finish to give Chelsea all three points.
Romelu Lukaku for Azpilicueta (69 minutes) – 7
Last throw of the dice for Chelsea and he was a nuisance to Watford’s backline.
