Sam Champion responds to rumors he’s returning for GMA weekend in candid new video

SAM Champion has responded to rumors suggesting he’s returning to his GMA weekend post with a definitive “no.”

Sam sat down with fans on Instagram for a live video ahead of his appearance on Wednesday’s morning show.

He returned to his post at ABC7 New York after a stint at GMA while filling in for Ginger Zee as she recovered from a recent illness.

While he was away for a short time, fans believed it might signal his return to his old haunts.

Sam was quick to give fans a definitive answer on the matter in his video.

He captioned his video: “Cali!! You are delivering the news of a 4.2 magnitude earthquake live!! A storm is coming today. Heather brings me the promised grown-up drink…I need it…#amtalkaboutnothing.”

During the online stream, Sam answered questions from viewers in chat.

At one point, he mentioned, “People are like, ‘Are you coming back for GMA weekend?'”

“No,” Sam said without hesitation and laughed.

Presenter Heather O’Rourke, standing next to him, agreed: “That’s a tough pass.”

He continued: “I’m really happy here.”

“I was there for four days last week to sort out some staffing issues, so I think there were a lot of questions,” he explained.

He concluded, “But no, I’m just helping out some friends.”

Although the rumors have been dispelled, Sam will likely come to help GMA again should there be any staffing needs in the future.

GRUMPY SAM

Meanwhile, Sam told a viewer to “be better” after a heated exchange online last week.

The meteorologist recently returned to ABC News in New York City after vacationing in Ipanema, Rio De Janeiro, with husband Rubem Robierb.

On Jan. 18, Sam took to Twitter to post a short clip of himself sipping coffee before going on the air with the GMA team.

“Good morning #bringcoffee” was read the tweet.

The video has been viewed almost 5,000 times and fans were quick to speak out, although one seemingly rubbed the weatherman the wrong way.

“What about your hair going the other way, you look a lot prettier,” said one viewer said.

Sam then answered with chosen words and urged everyone not to judge anyone’s physical appearance on the social media platform.

“With all due respect… NO ONE wants their looks criticized on Twitter so let’s all be better,” he noted.

SCOOTING SAM

Before Sam embarked on this with a viewer, he took time out for some fun on set with co-host Lara Spencer.

Sam took to Instagram with a few snaps from his temporary appearance on Good Morning America, replacing Ginger Zee as she recovered from a recent illness.

In one photo, Sam stood firmly in a “ready” pose in front of the GMA Extreme Weather screen, ready to get the job done.

The next saw him on Lara’s “tricked” scooter with the host on his back as both Robin Roberts and Michael Strahan urged him to be careful.

Lara had to use the scooter to get around after her recent foot surgery.

Sam spent some time fooling around with Lara and her scooter, which she decorated with jewels and a bell, as well as some fun tassels.

Sam captioned his photoset: “Last minute rush to @goodmorningamerica…my heart is happy after spending the morning with amazing friends!! @lara.spencer @robinrobertsgma @michaelstrahan @gstephanopoulos thanks for being so wonderful @sswinkgma. (in the 2nd photo Robin and Michael say “be careful)”

Lara posted the same photo on her Instagram with a joking caption.

She wrote, “The scooter has become quite the attraction here on set….”
